Medicine Garden Harvest and Preservation Picnic
About this event
Nothing smacks like homegrown goodness. And you can get in on the action at our free Medicine Garden Harvest and Preservation Picnic on Sept 29th from 5-8pm at the Shotgun Sanctuary. Rsvp in bio! We’ll be digging roots, plucking flowers, cutting down herbs, and gathering seeds throughout the garden for some full sensory, hands-on plant learning. We’ll cover the various properties and applications of these many fall medicines, and get to prepare some of them for immediate medicine making.
We’ll discuss triage, optimal storage and preservation methods, harvest techniques, and our own personal favorite ways to enjoy each plant.
Picnic potluck and bonfire to follow, so bring layers and a dish to share. Everyone leaves with seeds, rootlets, and cuttings to make some garden (or medicine) magic of their own. If you have an extra big fork or shovel, feel free to bring it!
