Bio Research Building Celebration

The University of Montana will celebrate the completion of newly constructed space in the Bio Research Building from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

The new facility serves the L. S. Skaggs Institute for Health Innovation (SIHI), which is set to expand clinical service and research capacity across Montana. The addition adds two floors to the Bio Research Building, which is adjacent to the Skaggs Building and the Health Sciences Building.

The celebration will include remarks from SIHI and UM leadership at 2:15 p.m., followed by building tours and light refreshments.

We are excited to welcome the public into our new space to learn more about SIHI s work, Director Erica Woodahl said. It gives us a place where clinicians, researchers, students and partners can come together. The new space will allow us to strengthen our programs, develop new collaborations and pursue opportunities to serve Montanans.

SIHI, located on the second floor, is now open. It offers dedicated space for community events, research support and expansion of clinical services, including medication therapy and chronic disease management, and pharmacogenomics-guided prescribing consultations. The location in the Bio Research Building augments SIHI s existing research facilities in the Skaggs Building.

Woodahl said SIHI was established in 2020 through generous donations to the University. SIHI s mission is to partner with communities to expand access to care and emerging health innovations through clinical services and research.

By leveraging pharmacy-led clinical services and innovative clinical and translational research, SIHI delivers community-centered solutions that respond to the needs of Montana s communities, she said. Sustaining and scaling this impact is achieved through aligned partnerships with philanthropic, foundational and public partners who share a commitment to advancing innovative health solutions.
