- From the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area entrance continue 0.25 mile, turn left on Sawmill Gulch Road, and find the trailhead on the right after about 0.25 mile.

- Parking and garbage receptacles are available at the main trailhead.

- Wide former logging road.
- Difficulty
- Relatively gentle grade for the first 9 miles.
