Philosophy

Sussex School students do not receive traditional letter grades. Instead, Sussex teachers seek to instill intrinsic motivation and a love of learning in students by supplying a varied, authentic, project-based curriculum that answers the unique needs of each child and encourages students to take responsibility for their own Missoula, Montana education.

A typical day

Beyond the daily emphasis on kindness, inclusion, and acceptance, first through fourth-grade students are taught interpersonal and positive communication skills through a nationally recognized social-emotional learning and development program.
