About this provider

The LAB School at the University of Montana offers students a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of young children and the teaching and learning process. We invite children ages 3-6 of all abilities and their families to join our inclusive community, which is designed to foster lifelong learning (L) and (A) a sense of belonging (B).

How to join

Enrollment Process: A waiting list is maintained on an ongoing basis at the LAB. Families can request to be added to the waiting list at any time by contacting the director. Enrollment for the upcoming school year takes place in four phases.

Program type
Preschool
Approach
Grounded in Project Based Learning (PBL), the LAB School’s curriculum is play-based, experiential, developmentally appropriate, and aligns with state standards.
Meals
The Full-Day PreK days include lunch time. Children enjoy a lunch brought from home.

Philosophy

The LAB maintains a small group size in each session in order to support our goal of meeting the individual strengths, interests, and needs of every child in the program. The classroom environment and expectations are created with respect for child development and the individuality of children.

A typical day

While free-choice play-based centers make up the bulk of the school day, whole group and small group times allow for a balance of child and teacher-directed activities.
