About this service
MCPS serves youth and families experiencing homelessness as defined by the McKinney Vento Act through the Families in Transition (FIT) Program.
Missoula County Public Schools employs a Families in Transition (FIT) liaison to advocate for families and to assist them in coordinating support for their students. The FIT liaison works closely with Family Resource Centers (FRCs) or FIT coordinators at each building in the district to assure eligible families receive support.
How to get help
Districts must enroll students in homeless situations immediately (within 24 hours), even if they do not have documents normally required for enrollment, such as previous school records, medical or immunization records, proof of residency, birth certificate, proof of guardianship, or other documents.
