About this service

Children who are available for adoption through the Child and Family Services Division of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services have been removed from their own families because of abuse, neglect or other family problems that make it unsafe for them to remain at home. The rights of their parents have been terminated making the children available for adoption.

How to get help

The request for an adoption subsidy shall be made by the child's Child Protection Specialist on behalf of the child. The worker shall submit a completed DPHHS-CFS-083, Adoption Subsidy Program Child's Eligibility Determination and supporting documentation to the Adoption Negotiations Program Manager.

Who qualifies

Eligibility for adoption subsidy payments is related to the child's needs, not the parents. To be eligible for a subsidy, a child must meet the definition of a Child With Special Needs and the policy's listed criteria.
