On Mount Sentinel, marked with an “M”, and Mount Jumbo, marked with an “L”, the strandlines are seen as horizontal lines in the vegetation or highlighted by snow in the winter. Public hiking trails switchback through the strandlines on Mount Sentinel and Mount Jumbo.

- The Kim Williams Nature Trail is part of the Missoula City Parks and is accessed off of Van Buren Street and fifth Street in Missoula.
- Dogs
- Mount Sentinel: pick up and pack out dog waste. Leashes are required where posted on Mt. Sentinel, the M trail, and trail sections on the south face.
- Use rules
- Mount Jumbo north of the Saddle Road is closed to dogs and people from December 1 to April 30. Dogs are allowed off-leash under voice restraint from May 1 to November 30.
